Can someone help with delaying my shot after hitting my aim button internally?

Hey, I've recently switched to linux from windows and I've gotten more into C hacks, but I haven't figured out how to delay my shot without using ticks. The ticks wouldn't be perfect, though, so I'd like to know if anyone has an example of a function for me to implement or if you could explain how to create one. Thanks!
