How much should I spend on a gaming desktop to run games on ULTRA HIGH settings?

Honestly that's a very hard question to answer given that technology is advancing at an incredible speed. The right number is always between 1.3k and 2k. I am eager to get my hands on the new AMD processor and viper card.

you'll need to at least spend $2000 if you want a machine worth spending money on. Just a 1080 and a decent monitor is around $900 on its own.

Depends on what you're getting but as mentioned above the 1k$ Price range is perfect just for the parts, you'll have to invest more for a Monitor and other gaming equipment.
