If files are different, this is what you do...
you delete all the local game content (right click on the game> delete local game content) ten you re-add everything, but at IW_5 or watever, there is a folder inside of the IW_5 folder. DO NOT COPY THE FOLDER AND DELETE IT IF IT IS IN THERE. then continue.

Dude, open Steam, click with right button over MW2 MP and click on Proprierties, go to Local Files and then click on Verify Integrity of Game Cache.
