Why are drugs illegal?

Greetings,

I am wondering why some drugs are legal, like Tobacco or alcohol, while others are illegal such that LSD or Ecstasy. I understand that alcohol is a tradition in a lot of countries, but what about tobacco?
Governments make so much money with that, that it would be a huge loss to forbid it? And what about other drugs? Is the drug war a way to make money?

Also, why are drugs like LSD or Molly are treated the same way as Heroin or Fentanyl in front of the law?

You're probably right about the drug war to make money.
But I don't think they could tax LSD, I mean LSD also can have some bad side effects too.
As can Alcohol and Tobacco, especially Tobacco.
But things like LSD can cause things like flash backs etc, and can cause trauma.
So I guess legal usually cause more physical issues, and LSD more psychological damage.

Well anyway this is what I think, I am not genius on drugs etc tho.
So rely on me completely wait for more replies lol

i agree,all these drugs cause more psychological damage.
btw tabacco and alcohol cause too psycological damage but in minor level.
They cant make tabaco and alcohol illegal,couse its cause mostly physical issues.If they do,they have to do on fried potatoes too.

It has been proven that alcohol is more dangerous than some other drugs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drug_harmfulness).

Also, do you think it is more interesting financially speaking for a State to forbid drugs?

I think its also due to their harm. They have longterm effects and if they were suddenly made legal people would think they're safe to use.

nah,i think the opposite.Goverment want drugs (soft or hard doesnt matter) to be in black market and let them free there,so they will fuck all the ppl with 100$ salary.
Ppl will leave with that 100$ but will not do anything cause they will have their daily week and they will feel nice.
