Name changing.

If i have and account named "xyz" and i change the name to "wasd" will i be able to create a new account and use the name "xyz" and be able to use this name or will it say it is taken? Application here is im looking for an account to buy and want to keep my name even if i have to buy gold on both accounts to get a name change.

Didn't Techmech do it or something after he changed his name and got banned, and made a new account and named it Techmech?

well yeah i mean if you change your name, your old name should be available to use by any account to take

Actually this is not true. Once a name has been used you will have to contact Deca in order to change the names between each other. It has something to do with the way the name registry is coded.

it checks the database for that name used and if it doesnt find it, it lets you use it, and if you change your name, your account row in the database immediately updates your new name (afaik, thats how it works in all the private server sources and as well seems the smartest way to do something like that?) so it should work without having to contact deca but idk

I think rtkshogunz was talking about the name taking thing, like if there's a name from an old ass unmigrated account how kabam let people take the name.

Just FYI, Deca doesn't do name switches. I tried 2 weeks ago. They said use the in game feature (automated response).

@Agent021 I've tried using an old ign which got changed(ingame), unfortunately, once used it will remain unavailable

Yes, it is. You don't have that name anymore. It helps to stop impersonators anyways.
