What should I upgrade? Or should I just get a new computer?

I was thinking of buying a new computer, but the option to upgrade is still there so I am seeing what you guys suggest.

Tower: ATX HP Tower, does the job

    Ram: HP DDR3-1600 10GB

    Motherboard: MSI MS-7778 (Jasmine)

Video Card (upgraded this after purchase): Nvidea GTX 760

    HHD: SATA 1TB hard drive

SSD: ssd samsung evo 850 250 GB (Not installed yet, but sitting on my desk waiting for my lazy ass to put it in)

    Processor: AMD A10-5700

Powersupply: 500W, would probably upgrade if I did anything. I think I am almost at the limit, especially if/when I put in the ssd

Have 2 monitors, Asus and Dell. No clue the size but medium-large. Razer keyboard, Mad Catz Rat3 mouse.

Thanks a lot to anyone that helps

Sell the ram and buy some cheap used ddr4, 16g preferably with 3000 speed. You're definitely gonna need a new mb, cpu, and gpu. If you want to go the intel way, get a 1070, assuming your monitors aren't g-sync and are only 1080p 144hz. An i5-7600k should pair fine with that, and for the motherboard, get a z270 asus prime one, as that will do the job fine.

If you're going the AMD Ryzen way which I recommend, get the R5 1600, as the 1500x only has 4 cores 8 threads i think, while the 1600 has 6 cores 12 threads and is $20 more expensive. Get a cheap B350 Msi pc or tomahawk, all the same. For the gpu, 1070 should be good with that as well. You won't need to get a new power supply as the new gpu's and cpu's are more power efficient. That's pretty much it.

Plug that SSD in and reinstall windows onto that... You'll have the time of your life.

I would just recommend getting a new computer. What's your budget?

If you wanted to upgrade, your parts aren't good nowadays.

Your CPU is an FM2 socket which means that it is around two generations old now. That means you're going to need to replace the motherboard if you want something newer. DDR3 RAM can be okay if you wanted to upgrade slightly; however, you're already going to replace the mobo/CPU. Your HDD/SSD are both fine. I pretty much run the same thing, and I still have plenty of space. If I ever need to reduce, I just delete the games from Steam that I never play anymore.

Your PSU can be salvaged depending on the parts that you get. You can always check your usage on pcpart picker.

Okay, thanks for the help. I think I am keeping the drives and psu. I didn't know my cpu was that outdated actually!

Was thinking around $800-$1000, think I could get something decent for that?

These were the links I found to the ones you were saying...

    https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produc...82E16813144018

    https://www.amazon.ca/AMD-Processor-.../dp/B06XNRQHG4

    https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produc...-265-_-Product

    https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produc...82E16820148859

Would those be okay? They are about $1120 and that's a little overbudget but maybe doable. Would it be cheaper just to get a new computer or would the be a lot more cost efficient to just do these 4 parts? Thanks a ton for the help!

I saw you post a link on another thread for a budget canadian pc where you linked the pc part picker https://ca.pc partpicker.com/list/TtHFhq

Would that be as good as the 4 parts I listed in my reply to living nightmare? I wouldn't need the hard drive or psu.

Ok, for the motherboard, that is perfectly fine, same as the cpu. For the gpu, you can go with any gpu you like, EVGA have the best warranty however, so if you are buying from overseas, always go for EVGA, if not, gigabyte, msi, and asus are good gpu manufacturers. Also on the gpu, that is very expensive for a 1070, wait for a sale for around $350, as I have seen that price before. For the ram, it's fine, it doesn't need to look stylish, BUT make sure you get 3000 or 3200 as Ryzen takes advantage of these, and so do the motherboards, it will be a lot easier with higher speed ram, especially when going with amd.

    That's pretty much it.

What Living_Nightmare said. Your parts are way better than the one I linked, but really everything is overpriced in Canada. Just get a Ryzen 1600 (comes with a pretty decent cooler for mild OCing). The 1070 beats the RX480 by around roughly 50%. The only thing to consider is that there is a G-Sync premium on G-Sync monitors when going with Nvidia (roughly $200 more). If you're just going for 1080p 60-75 FPS just save some money and get a RX580 and a Freesync monitor. If you want to push 144fps 1080p or 60fps 1440p then you might want to consider the 1070.
