No. The 7700k is only around 12% better. I also don't understand people's obsession with water cooling. Air coolers are less messy and just as effective. I didn't know WoW was so intensive, are you sure your CPU is being utilized 100%?
Hey all
Just a curious question here for you guys,
I currently have an I7-4790K but in a few months I'll have enough money to get a new processor, motherboard and water cooling for my entire system, would you say an I7-7700k watercooled with overclock would be much better for games such as World of Warcraft which uses only a single core, right now on my 4790k the game gets bricked and frames drop hard as hell, GPU wise I have a 1070 so no real point in upgrading it, just wanting to know whether you guys think it be worth upgrading or not.
Also the 7700k motherboards are so much better, right now my current MOBO is hanging on 3 screws inside my corsair carbide 600c case because it's that small and crap
Thanks,
Sash

I really ain't sure what it is with WoW and my cpu, outside of raiding just flying around the world on the game my cpu with a ton of stuff open is around 25% Utilisation, in a WoW raid it hits about 60 - 95%
I wouldn't know why WOW uses so much cpu power, but do not upgrade to a 7700k with that 4790k. It is a VERY small upgrade.
Main thing is though with the 4790k is there is no real good motherboards, all are really damn ugly and just overall crap for a LGA1150 socket
7700k overheats like a mother fucker be prepared to delid it if you get one. This is SUPER common with the 7th gen as intel cheaped out on the TIM.
msi afterburner is pretty good for that or CAM from nzxt if you can get it running
but id rather wait for the next cpu gen before wasting well over 500bucks
i also had some probs gaming with my 4770k, but spending 140bucks on a new mobo helped a lot and i had no stutters ingame anymore

See a big problem I currently have with my pc is the fact the motherboard just doesn't work sometimes, I boot my pc and it won't load anything, doesn't display anything to any of my monitors, I try single monitor, nope. Takes about 3 to 4 times rebooting the pc to get it to load which is getting annoying hence why I was thinking also for the 7700k because then I get a much prettier (better working) motherboard
