What's up guys. Anyone who actually knows me knows that I love to smoke.
Just as much as that, I love to try and critique different styles, brands, and flavors of cigars and wraps.
Over my few years of smoking, I have tried and regularly used many, many different wraps. In this thread, I'll give my rundown on every wrap I've tried and my favorites of each brand, as well as a top 10 list of my favorite wraps of all time.
So first off, I have smoked and wrapped with all of the following brands: Swisher Sweets, White Owls, B&M's, Good Times, Gracia y Vega, Zig Zag, Dutchmasters, and of course the classic Backwoods.
So, for Swishers it is a fairly easy explanation. A very sweet, sugary flavor in every wrap (except Diamonds). The wrap will almost always overpower the flavor of the weed, so if tasting your crop is what you're looking for this is not the wrap for you. However, in a few (awesome) exceptions, the "Diamond" and "Smooth" flavors can be one of the best blunts you've ever smoked. My favorite Swishers are Sticky Sweets, Wild Rush, and Diamond. My least favorite is Strawberry by far. In my opinion, it has a very musky and overpowering flavor. Not like many other varieties of Swishers. The Swisher minis are also a great pick to roll with, and the giants are great to smoke on if you like a strong, cheap cigar.
White Owls are like Swisher's pampered cousin. The mouthpiece on a good WO is like a godsend. It is crinkled in such a way that makes it easy to make an anti-scooby device when rolling it. The paper is typically sticky when wetted, but not so sugary that it becomes a hassle. Other than that, they're very similar to Swishers in practicality. My favorite WO's are Mango, White Peach, Emerald, and Blue Razzberry. In all honestly, I don't dislike any WO's in particular. They all taste pretty solid, so mix and match.
B&M's are much less for rolling, and more for a nice, heavy smoke after you finished your green. I love to get a nice B&M Jazz single to puff on after a good smoke session. Also, they're really good for hiding weed smell if that's what you're about. Like I said, my favorite flavor is Jazz.
Good Times is very self-explanatory. Not only do you get more wraps than in a Swisher or WO, they also have wild flavors that are usually pretty damn good. By FAAAAAR my favorite GT is the Fruit Punch one. It is honestly the most accurate tasting wrap I've ever had. Good Times very easily meld with the taste of the weed, and even enhance it in some cases. Highly recommended to try these some time.
Gracia y Vega, Backwoods' pretty sister. I honestly have not rolled with these many times, but each time I did was great. Recommend to use a razor to split these though, as I fucked up a few of these trying to hand split it.
Zig Zag, either pre-split or hand, are fantastic. I highly, HIGHLY, suggest trying some of their "pre-split" wrap only packs. The wrap itself will be in it's full flavor, instead of being tainted with a taste of pure tobacco. If not, the ZZ straight up's have rolled some of the best blunts I've ever smoked. The wrap itself is seemingly larger than standard wraps as well.
Dutchmasters are something I've only dabbled in, but I do plan on exploring these more. In the few times I've smoked them, they always came out tasting divine. No particular flavor here, just try one already.
Finally, the crispy, peanut-buttery, oh so delicious Backwoods. One of the biggest challenges as a stone is to roll one of these in your life. One of the most unorthodox wraps to exist, but extremely rewarding for your patience. The wrap/cigar itself usually tastes like shit, but when you get some weed in there? Oh my lord. Try rolling a fattie with the Honey Bourbon flavor.
And finally, my all time top 10 favorite cigars/wraps of all time.
1: Swisher Sweets, Sticky Sweets (A general peachy, caramel flavor).
2: Swisher Sweets Mini, Tropical Storm (A harsh lemon lime flavor).
3: White Owl, Blue Raspberry (Less of a fruity flavor and more of a candy one).
4: Good Times, Fruit Punch (Really nigga?).
5: Zig Zag, Straight (Un-sweet, tobacco).
6: White Owl, Emerald (A soft, green tea flavor).
7: Dutchmasters, any (Tastes like the sweet marketing of Japan).
8: Black & Mild, Jazz (I guess flowery?).
9: Swisher Sweets, Diamond (Un-sweet, tobacco).
10: White Owl, Mango (Very heavy mango).
Honorable Mentions: Swisher Sweets, Wild Rush. White Owl, Strawberry. Normal flavors of either SS or WO. Just try a Backwoods, any of them (roll, don't smoke it normally).
And that's it. I've touched on almost every type of smoking apparatus for old mary jane that you can think of, but blunts will always be my favorite. Anyway, hope this helps you out next time you're at the convenience store looking for a cancer stick to shove some devil's lettuce into.
