I do not think so, I believe and correct me if I'm wrong, that Christian faith says God gave us free will, so that we chose to worship him and thus gain heaven and being able to be with him. I believe that is also how Lucifer came to be, he grew jealous that humans could be with God when he saw us as lesser beings. Not too sure though.

Let's say that there is a god, but it's an uncaring, and sometimes malevolent being. Would we still be obligated to worship it?

God created us and send us to earth as a test to see if we are good enuf to gain acces to heaven and if we dont prove us worthy then hell it is

You see I have an issue with worshiping a God that's so petty that it needs everyone to love it or it'll torture us for eternity. Sounds like a self-esteem issue to me.

Of course, depending on which characteristics are present, one could become obligated out of fear.

If something exists, and it is proven, it would be foolish to say it does not exist. However, the mere fact that it exists does not constitute the obligation to worship it.

How do you think so many people become swallowed in religion. Fear. Promises of a happy place if they behave. Scare people by saying they'll plummet downwards into an eternity of torture and despair and most would believe anything, as ridiculous as it is.

This god would probably not be a stoner idiot, probably a wise man, and would understand that people want to live the way they live, and even if it's not good and they are judged, if they are content with it so be it.

I'm not saying that all the idiots get into heaven.
