[Help] i got a virus from this site i believe..

Well, i got a virus on my computer today. Norton popped up a little alert while I was playing CF earlier that warned me that i had a virus. So i clicked fix and it said problem resolved then a few minutes later another alert popped up and said the same thing so i clicked on fix again. Since then i haven't gotten any more warnings (i ran a full system scan) but i'm still a little worried.

It's called Backdoor.IRC.bot And according to Norton 360 it's infected 83 host files, a handful of programs, 164 registry files and a few cache files. Anybody know where it could have come from/ what it can do to my computer/ how to get rid of it??

I've already gone into the hosts file to check but there were no issues with it that i could tell. And i ran CCleaner on my registry to see if that would help at all but no dice there. Any suggestions or pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.

Ok firstly..

Download.. Spybot search and destroy.. From bleeping computer.com

Next get Combofix..

From same site!!!

Run spybot first.. If you still have infections...

Restart your OS in Safe mode and run Combo fix!!!!

This will destroy any virus u have..

ANd next time dont just download any old thing!!!!

you have to watch wat you download

Dude i recommend avast cause it warns you first when you download

and you can move to chest and delete the virus

And avast warns you if it is scamming/hacking/virus websites

Remember Some WEBSITES... Got a virus FLASH PLAYER with a song that contains VIRUS

But MPGH.NET is CLEAN

Well, I assumed it came from here since it had IRC in the name and I had just clicked on the link to the mpgh irc only a minute or two earlier.

And yeah I fixed it. Easiest way possible, throw it out the window XD




No, actually I just let norton 360 fix it when it popped up and I've been doing deep scans with norton and nothing new has popped up. And I assume that the large number of infections was what It usually affects and not what it actually HAD infected.
