I did everything word for word 5 times now and keep getting the same results

You HAVE to be doing something wrong with the fixer...
unless you did something in photo shop maybe i dunno .

thats what i did restarted from scratch 6 times now and getting the same results except this time the file size is bigger whereas last 5 times is was smaller im getting aggravated

ok thanks for trying to help guys appreciate it ok i think i know what the problem is when i convert to .dds the file size reduces from original 11kb to 9kb than after i'm done with the hex and crc steps and convert from .dds to .iwi the file stays at the same 9kb thats where my problem lies any idea why its doing this? and yes i checked for alpha channels and mip maps and have done this 7 times know with no success.

You have to be doing SOMETHING wrong.. it can't just be like 'your special' and it wont work for you...

question when i cut out the last 4 bytes in the new modded file via hex editor it prompts me telling me that the file will change in size is this normal? also after click yes to cutting the last 4 bytes and saving i use the crcfixer tool after its done my file size is not correct with the original iwi file any ideas as to what im doing wrong i followed your tut to the letter??.. any help would be appreciated thanks and yes i have read all other tuts on here

this is because you have loaded the "new" modded file into the wrong iw_0x.iwd file.

What do you mean?
If its the skin its made by me...

I didnt load it into the wrong .iwd file...

thanks for the help tooba and i have been saving it as D X T 1 RGB 4 bpp | no alpha since there is no alpha channel but file size remains the same 9kb does not return back to original 11kb i'm freaking confused so thought i would try your instructions after photoshop saved .dds as D X T 1 no alpha ran it through hex and crc and got the same results file size remains at 9kb this is my 10th attempt starting from scratch and getting same results everytime don't understand what i'm doing wrong

can you pm your file?...

because its hard over chatting rather than viewing.
so you have the orig file = 11kb..is this a gun or cammo?.
you edited the cammo to save as .dds = d x t 1
then you hex edited the data (2 lines ontop + 4 "00" + deleted the 4 "45""34"34"54" on the bottom) saved the hex edit, then used the crc32 fixer, if that gave you no error and fixed it you should be all go
