Possible to play AlterIWnet and normal at the same pc ?

Here is exactley what you do from the start:

- Copy your modern warfare 2 folder located in /steam/steamapps/common
- paste it whereever you want it
- download the Client version update from the latest Modern Warfare 2 version (1.1.195)

- Just extract everything in the folder you copied
- Run the "alterIWnet_configure.exe" To set your Username
- Start the game "iw4mp.exe"

because it pops up a message saying "steam must be running to play this game ", what did i do wrong?? plz help

Do not double post use the botton.

And no Steam doesn't have to be running, make sure you replaced steam_api.dll from MW2's folder.

oh, i didnt do that (sorry for double post)... Where is this file located, i have found it in the ClientUpdate folder but not anywhere else in the callofdutymodernwarfare 2 folder?

Do i have to copy the files i downloaded and past them in the steamapps map ?

now it says : "Could not connect to the configured server (log1.pc.iw4.iwnetinfinityward.com). Possibly you have misconfigured alterIWnet.ini, or this server is actually down...

Any advice????

@aggelospast Reinstalling the game might be easier and faster, I did the same when I had problems with it.
