    De afdeling urologie van het AMC doet samen met 81 universitaire ziekenhuizen in Europa onderzoek naar de penislengte van de Europese man van 18 jaar en ouder. Elk deelnemend ziekenhuis heeft daartoe minimaal 500 proefpersonen nodig.
    
    De onderverdeling van de klassen ziet er als volgt uit:
    Penislengte in ge-erecteerde staat:
    Groep 1: > 15 cm
    Groep 2: > 10 cm, doch met een max van 15 cm
    Groep 3: < 10 cm, doch maximaal 10 cm
    
    Het onderzoek wil door de afwezigheid van voldoende proefpersonen niet van de grond komen. Het schijnt dat de groepen 2 en 3 significant ondervertegenwoordigd zijn. Vermoed wordt doordat de mannen zich voor de lengte van hun penis schamen.
    
    Het AMC roept daarom iedere man van 18 jaar en ouder op om de lengte van hun penis in ge-erecteerde staat door middel van een aan een auto verbonden oranje vlaggetje anoniem kenbaar te maken. En wel middels 1 vlaggetje voor Groep 2, en 2 vlaggetjes voor Groep 3. In het uitzonderlijke geval dat uw penis in erecte staat de 5 centimeter niet haalt, kunt u dit anoniem kenbaar maken door op een speciaal voor dit doeleinde vervaardigde gemakkelijk verkrijgbare plastic toeter te blazen!
    
    Op 2/7 wordt er op verschillende plaatsen in het land middels steekproeven geteld.
