Anyway, good job NTAuthority, you've really cleaned the game up and made it legit. Now we can all play in a cheater-free environment.

Hacks, indeed. Mods, no? We added fs_game support which actually works now, but nobody notices it as the official tutorial isn't finished yet.

Well, once the word about fs_game spreads more and more we'll get tons of host abuse -- but then again, that's the price we have to pay for freedom. And even then, I can patch out most of the 'force host' methods and make private matches usable with some server browser then -- I'm starting proper work on UI code tomorrow, so we might have some nice CoD4-ish in-game server browser soon...

they already fixed this by forcing the theme to basic (no aero).
Pretty much patches it (for now??)/

Best bet on a hack would be an external one, not needing Aero to run, and made to work with XP and 7 (who cares about Vista these days).

That XP external box hack is almost useless on 7 64-bit, the boxes don't render correctly.

Only thing I can think of is to disable the automatic update function of AlterIWNet, by changing the text in the iw4mp.cfg from this:

enable_updates 1
cache_server https://alteriw.net/content/
caches aiw-client;aiw-content;aiw-dlc1;aiw-dlc2

to this:

enable_updates 0
cache_server https://alteriw.net/content/
caches aiw-client;aiw-content;aiw-dlc1;aiw-dlc2

If they update it though, they usually make the older versions unusable, however.

That means you will always be using an old version without the useful updates.

I'm not sure how he is forcing basic mode, but I have a feeling it has something to do with calling a 16bit OpenGL call, which is not compatible with aero.

Gah, I hope Steam or Infinity Ward don't follow in the same tracks as AlterIW.

They might, but then again that may or may not be legal for them to do. I believe there is a policy from Microsoft that would prevent them from doing that.
