need help with makin mods

trying to make mods
i got reztools and photoshop whiterabbi***5
and i extracted the .rez to the dtx
i converted the .dtx to lithtech
opened up the desired .dtx with photoshop(i got all the correct plugins on it)i edited it the way i wanted
i switched it back to nexon
i injected it
and my gun is still not red with a wraith of shangri-la plastered on it

what did i do wrong

i didn't have to deal with a .rez
i was editing .dtx's n injecting in the games .rez
you know just texture editing
