Windows calculates it the correct way. But the casual way is 1000.

Accepted and correct are two different things.
And I think the way OS X does it is actually worse. Instead of changing the reported file size, they should change the words (mebibyte instead of ********).

Windows tells you the exact amount of space its taking. So It would be considered correct and accurate.

Both are correct, SI uses the 10 base, IEC uses 2. Now go fight who's "right".

Note: I just saw IEC actually does use the "i" version, my bad.

I am really tired and there wasn't a lot of information on it, so you denying me made me think I might have been wrong.

I really gotta go to sleep.
