It's not so much being in controlling the government as giving in to the mainstream culture's influence. I hardly know any artist that acquired fame by sticking to his non-commercialized style or by not adapting to the culture /
Well you are right in saying that he wouldn't make it mainstream
(not enough talent, and his themes aren't for people who want to listen to music)

the problem is that if you just don't make music, and put pure 100% political stuff in your music, its just a campaign speech. No one wants to just listen to stuff about hating america only.
