Fear

I sit watching
As it watches me
My heart races, but I try to hide it
It’s icy hand grabs my stomach and squeezes
I choke and run away, I try to escape
But it stalks me in the gloom
It sneaks upon me without a sound
I feel it close and my hair stands on end
It sucks upon my drawing breath
I close my eyes to shut it out and I think of happy things
But it’s fingers are running down my spine
Im so cold.... but I am drenched in sweat
It pools around me as I crouch
My back against the wall
All is silent but my head booms with noise
booming with my fevered thought
I scream as it whispers it’s name in my ear
“I am fear”
