I know nothing about GFX, but the lion seems a little too plain to me.

I think it looks a little bit weird that the mane (is that what the hair is called? D fades a way. I'm not a huge fan of black/white pics, and I also think it gets a little bit plain. The effects are taking the focus away from the lion, and thats a thing i would have change. You could blur the effects, og sharpen the lion. Or you could put on some new effects which "work" together with the lion. Giving it more focus.
Also, you should work on the blending. Get some smoke, or effects in front.

Go look at some tutorials.
Just keep doing some tutorials, and get good results. Then when you think you're ready, try and develop your own style and ideas.

Well, i didn't mean on the lion. But close to the lion, like aside of him.
And as you see, the beam you put there also goes through the pic.
