Hate to break it to you, but in order to make [effecient] hacks, you need to know a bit more than just C++. x86 assembler knowledge helps a GREAT deal. Also knowing how to use debugger programs (such as Olly/IDA) is a great plus as well. The main thing is knowing how classes/functions are mapped out in a program, and being able to tell what they're doing.
