The Quran doesn't accuse anyone from the past. Simply because god didn't said that it is a sin back then. The Quran isn't for people in the past. It's for the people from now and the future.

The difference is that sin is sin no matter when the law was made.

Take the ten commandments. Before that murder was still a sin, and so was idol worshipping. When the ten commandments were made, it doesn't say "everyone who murdered is off scott free" because its sin.
