I cannot speak on behalf of everyone. Personally i think sigs are an shallow, and narrow, branch of art. They can be, at best, smaller representations of other forms of art. Nonetheless, sigs were an easy foothold into graphics design, and i do it for experience, self-enhancement, and that little bit of satisfaction from knowing some of its appreciated. It is worth mentioning that sigs do not carry significant commercial, or real-world value - purely an internet arena. Many good sigs however would be fantastic in large-scale.

i think its really for the use for them sre what they were originaly created for to be used as sigs
they are a beginning into graphic design or graphic art
in general digital art is a way to express yourself or to spend your time
a hobby like any other that if someone asks why you do it you simply respond "i don't know i like it but i dont know why"
i cant explain why its fun for me but apparently i don't get bored working on something for a long time

tbh tags arent that fun to make, i prefer to do a photo session
