Well, you can't say its done one way, because you could locate a codecave, say that it was located, err. Like this

00500 jmp 00123
00501 nop
00502 push ESI
______________

00123 mov ESI,(w\e weapon Id is as hex)
00124 jmp 00502

Or you could just hardcode the number with a hex value(inline patching). Overall, inline patching would be much easier.

Theres a million ways to do it, all you need to do is change what 00502 pushes to the stack.
