Well..

There are alot more high ranked players then there used to be. Therefore the market is flooded making prices drop.

I hardly ever used to see a major when i first started playing, now you see rooms full of them.

My theory for the ranks would be the EXP to get to them.

For example, lets say a rank of CSM4 is.. 250000 (not real EXP rating, but still). Moving it to the left 3 times will make it: 25.0= 25 dollars. You'll have to tweak some ranks around, but in general it'll work.
