Well, good luck! I gave up on DX 11.. DirectX is so fragmented, DirectX 8, 9, 10, 11 are all widely in use, and they're all different!

OpenGL is much nicer, more consistent, and is multi-platform :D

Meh this discussion is still up? ;D learn both like Why said and that's it. Even if you don't use it for hacking, you are going to use for something else.

Is it learning ASM or DirectX?
ASM & DirectX actually,DirectX to draw the box/items in game
    ASM for detours,bypasses,etc
If you are planning to code for warrock, dont learn much asm, because detours went public, also did most stuff,so you not need bypass so much anymore :O

But i guess you can never know all C++ basics,i mean, it is so advanced, nobody can know it all, except bill gates

Ok this brings me to another question.

I am already learning DirectX but how far should I go until I know that I have enough to make some mini hacks, same question for ASM.

Also what is with Warock? Is it like super easy to hack? I want to find a easy game that I can start on so I dont get discouraged...

Atleast the basics, learn some advances to,hardest part in the hack is the asm in my oppinion,DirectX is not so hard
uuhm.., you should take a look at some D3D base,to see if you are able to understand it,if you do, you know enough basics
    Goodluck

Why does everybody give the hack route? Hacks are for nubs. Learn SDL and code a 2d physics engine for me

    Why make one for you?

Also im not only learning because of hacks.

I am actually making my own game with a team of developers. Were working on the storyline right now.

You got the process all wrong. Work on the actual physics, engine, rendering, etc before storyline. storyline and final sprites, etc are last.

Well no.... designing the basis of the game comes first. In every project you make in programming, unless its simple, you plan out what you need to accomplish, and then worry about how to accomplish it. If you dont have a storyline you shouldnt even start. Sprites are last yeah... but without a storyline you cant tell what order things are done in, and without the order you have nothing to program.
