What is Sencha Touch?

Sencha Touch allows you to develop mobile web apps that look and feel native on iPhone, Android, and BlackBerry touch devices.

Do I need to know the mobile devices specific API or Development languages like ObjectC for IPad/IPhone/ITouch and Java for Android?

Not at all, All you need is some intermediate knowledge of HTML/HTML5 and have experience & understanding of JavaScript.

Who should use this?

Though Sencha Touch makes it easy to build and port applications from (to) basically any mobile device platform (OS) , It isn't for those who don't meet the requirements above and/or are not willing to learn it. You need to devote yourself and work hard at anything you do.

Can I use Gestures and other Native API?



Yeah, You can. Beep, "G-Sensor" / acello. , Vibrate, Phone Calls, and Touch Gestures.


Are there Examples?


Yes: If you want to see how well Sencha Touch Works, Check out the kitchen sink app from your Mobile Device, or (lacking animations) check it out from a webkit browser like Chrome or Safari.

Okay, So I can make Hybrid WebApps, What about compiling them as a native install, Like IPA, or APK.

Ahh Sencha, I have just started using it and I've gotta say it does open the door to a bunch of new possibilities. Not having to dual boot a mac OS is also a bonus. Nice release.

@Broderick , yeah, but if you want to compile ipa using phone gap or titanium you still need to have a MAC (or hackintosh)
