Well then get an Intel one.
Make sure the sockets match your motherboard.

I have a compaq and no complaints... ive fixed it up to the point where its a decent computer, you just probably bought a cpu that is not compatible with your motherboard. to fix it, you need a new mobo.

umm sockets do match. am2+ and am2+ and they want 170 for installing a mobo and 30 for installing a cpu? i was looking to leave spending maybe a hundred not 300.
