1. yes, but you can get them back

2. no, to undo a jailbreak you need to update or downgrade so it would get rid of the apps

3. first backup ur ipod, what you want to do is to find ur current ispw or the version, right now apple released a 4.2.1, so you want to save that to your desktop and then download red snow for ur ipod model, once that done open red snow and it should ask you for an ispw, select the one on ur desktop, and let it load, once thats done two options should come up, basic or advance settings, click advance, and select the stuff you want for example, if you have the older ipod model and dont have backgrounds in ur home screen u can enable that here, once your done click build ispw and let that load, then its going to save ur jailbreak ispw on ur desktop and ask u plug in ur ipod and turn it into DFU mode, just follow the screen steps and it should be jailbroken, once everything thing is done go t our ipod and check to see if you have cydia, if you do then you did it right, to get free apps, go to cydia, sources, manage, edit, and add. add the hackoluos source codde (google it) and it should install instalous onto ur iphone, once instalous is done loading, click it, and find a app u want download it, and install it
