I just built a new PC last week for a little under $2000. It is using the same video card and cpu that I recommended to you, but with a bunch of new peripherals, an SSD, and generally higher quality components. I can run the i5 stable at 4.8 GHz (I'm sure I could push past 5 GHz, but I don't need it), and the only thing I have found that it can't run perfectly is Metro 2033 with max settings and PhysX enabled. I've been running crysis at 50+ fps on max settings. Let me know if you want to see any benchmarks with these specs.

Gtx 570 @ 800MHz/1600MHz shader
Corsair H60 liquid CPU cooler
Corsair P128 (Sata 3) 128GB SSD (about 450MB/s read, 300MB/s write)
