For piano (midi and reg audio) i use Anvil Studio, Audacity or FL Studio.

Just get a mic for your iDevice, it turns them into mp3 files, and you'll be able to put'm into your computer, cost 50-70 bucks, good buy though, and I can use it for more then just recoding my piano playing.

Buy that and either torrent Cubase 5 or bid on ebay to get Pro-Tools Mpowered cheap and torrent guitar rig to use as a plug in. Or just torrent Guitar Rig as a stand alone but it's best quality to get an audio interface with instrument inputs. USB connection will give you shitty quality.

And dont use FL Studio if you have no audio interface. It's default sound engine is a piece of shit. So just torrent Cubase 5 & Guitar Rig or just Guitar Rig
