AVP2 D3D Hook is it possible?

I've been trying to get d3d hook to work for the game Aliens vs. Predator 2 but have come to a dead end. For some reason the game doesn't seem to load d3d8.dll, there is however a d3drender.dll that is loaded but I'm afraid I don't have any of its functions. The game runs off the LithTech Talon engine. If any one has any experience with hooking LithTech games could you shed some light on this situation please?

Look if it's a different version of D3D. I'm not sure myself as I have never played it, but it might be an older/newer version of DirectX.
