If you have been following Notch's twitter over the past day, he said he started a sky dimension but thought it sucked. PC Gamer made some big deal over it and now Notch said he's going to finish it. Twitter
"And because PC Gamer made such a big deal of the sky dimension, I guess I'll have to finish it. Consider it confirmed."

As of now it just looks like he took out bedrock and made everything spawn in air. Not really a big deal. If the skyland wound up being a whole new world like the nether than yeah it would be pretty cool.
