You're free to do what you want. but if you think a bit about it you'll know that some people haven't thought enough about the religion thing, they just obey what their parents told them blindly, and they think that thinking about that religious thing is haram or some shit.
or they just don't want to think about it because it's the only hope they have in this life, poor people live obeying god and religion because they don't have any hope left yet.

Sawm: fasting and self-control during the holy month of Ramadan.
Hajj: pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in a lifetime if one is able
