What can I improve on before I submit it to the competition?

My opinion may not be as important as the others around here, but I do say, the thin border, fractal on the right, shadow of render, and text in the left corner ruined it.

The render is a bit too bright to click in with the dark background, and the background is a little bland itself.
Would probably be better if it was a smaller size... too much 'dead space' i don't know what's the word for it in these tagmaking pro's, but ... there's just too much space that has nothing going on, it's 'dead'.

It's like the render has a gradient map as a clipping mask, and the background is still a solid, untouched background.

Smaller + No boreder/text. The fractal is my light source. The original render had red light on the arm so I added the fractal as a source for that. And genuinely light casts a shadow.

I actually made the background myself using a combination of smoke brushes and cloud effect,

Borders are . No efects and looks plain. The gradient is also . Colors are bad.
