Can't find match right after starting the game

so i have a legit copy of the steam version fully updated. when i first start the game and try to find a match it doesn't find one the only thing happening is the ping goes up. all i have to do it wait 5 or 10 minutes and then when i try it, it finds one. i have tired to reinstall the game. it didn't work, i tried resetting my router/ modem/ both wire and wireless connection. didn't work. and my NAT type is open, but sometimes it says its strict(why i dont know). so what do i do?
after a while now all that waiting is getting annoying

It sometimes says that your nat is strict. Just restart the game, not sure why.

Try deleting config_mp located in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2\players

nope it didnt work... and i accidently deleted the players folder.. but im still able to play online..

but when i first started playing the game i didn't have this problem, so would that rule out my isp being the problem?

It happens to me too. Can't remember if I ever figured out the problem, but I usually only have to wait a minute or two before it finds games.

Keep in mind though that as the population dies down, so does the number of available good ping games.

i wish i could just view all the matches instead of it finding them for me.. i kinda hate it i mean you have no choice other than the game mode.. i wish i had black ops cuz i did that weekend trial and it was fun.. but i thought that black ops came out before mw2 but i was wrong
