The faces are creepy the eyes especially have a weird effect the picture themselves aren't scary nor do they have a dark atmosphere

Seems like a lot of people are getting some kind of creepy element from it.
I don't get it myself still. To me they're just black and white, why thats creepy I don't know.

Buy a camera, start shooting.
The only way to learn how to photograph something is to do it.
Technical information will only get you so far.

Also, don't go for the most expensive gear, go for what suits your style.

The idea for the portraits was to make them look slightly... odd, for want of a better word.
Straight on and at 35mm it slightly distorts the face, which may be why the look creepy. They look pretty normal most of the time.
