The sprite, but you didn't blend it in, doing any effects etc etc. In the squirtle one, you've done much more.

Shadow is about shadow. Make the colour really dark blue.

I'm not big on dark colors. If I'm doing something such as making a signature of a game sprite, then I usually go with the lightest shade of the darkest color.
