It depends on what kind of 3d things you want to make.
Generally, 3Ds Max is best for game modeling, architecture, worlds, and stuff like that. Maya is great for cinematic animation and video effects, and Cinema 4D leans towards motion graphics. One of the biggest perks of ZBrush is that the modeling process is very similar to sculpting clay, so if you like that sort of thing I would check it out.
Just try to think about what you want to do as far as 3d graphics go, and feel free to try as many as you can and see which is best for you.
