So if a Bukkit server uses a ore obfuscator so that once I turn on x-ray all I see are fake diamond and iron ores till I lag out, there's no way to combat that?

nope thats it, but idk how it obfuscates it, if it makes ore and stuff that you can only see with X ray on then try the texture pack, except dont make it see through make everything look like monster spawner cages or something similar so you can see through it but you still know where it is, and dont make it all the same color
