Why buy a bootleg.........just DL them in HD and put them on a cd(if you have to watch it on tv).
I wouldn't buy the cd anyway, the subs text suck.
I'm looking to get myself Darker than Black for Christmas and when I was searching, I heard a lot about bootlegged anime DVDs. I'm a bit hesitant now to put an order in for the product I found on Amazon.
From what I read, the best ways to determine if something is a bootleg is to look at the region and vendor. Anything sold for US should be from Region 1. I don't know the quality of this information though...
What are the features that can help you distinguish a bootleg from a legit copy? How can you tell if something is a bootleg?
What I'm currently looking at: https://www.amazon.com/Darker-Than-Bl...2620488&sr=8-1
It's region 1, which seems right. The reviews are all good and the vendor I believe is Amazon (but don't they act as a middleman for smaller 'companies'?). My biggest concern is that it's a 4 DVD set. That's cramming 6-7 episodes a disk + the special features.
Dunno, this will be the first time I've actually bought something like this so I'd like some help as I want to get the real thing.

You misunderstand me, I'm asking if you know how to tell a bootleg from the real thing.
I like to have hard copies of the stuff I like, especially movies/shows.
if you want a hard copy you can put it on a cd.........
The easiest way to tell is to look a the cd case. Bootlegs have half-assed cd's cases. Then again, they could always copy the pic.

Still reccommend DL'ing it.
ok downloading it and copying first, if you really like it then you should buy the disc's. This is what i did with the dvd's I have had bought. Region yeah can differ i tend to get region 2. size is 16:9 seems fine to me, 625min is arround 25/27eps... I think its due to the HQ DVD setting they used 2 dvd's (normal) or maximal 3 because if you read the bonus content you can see that there are full eps voiced over. Useally these can be added to the Language list so you can switch to commentary but they might have added different footage etc. (that's why i expect its on the 3rd dvd and the bonus content like art work ost are on the 4th.)
but still its quite cheap.

Thanks!
The reason I'd like to buy these is because I like to support the things I like. Not to mention official hard copy = ftw.
Well supporting is nice, but buying them officially is expsensive.
I think some loli-anime hit 40$ an episode or something on sankaku.
----------------------------------------------------
But if your gonna buy bootlegs. Might as well download. You are NOT supporting the company buying bootlegs at all.

Its 26$

I'm trying to avoid bootlegs, that's why I asked this.
