I can't help but feel that posting your code for everyone to see (without authority) is what caused this whole shebang to go up in flames.

I think Nexon is in a very serious dilemma. Technically, it wasn't an exploit, and it wasn't taking advantage of a glitch for unfair gain. It was not a glitch, it was an actual game function. Buying from and selling to NPC's is part of the game.

I agree. Nexon really screwed up this time. IMO, the most plausible outcome is a ban wave in order to curtail the massive amount of gold that could cause an inflation explosion. The possibility of a rollback is also ever-present - which would be nice considering I have not had very good luck at the Forge lately
