Actually, they won't. I've seen many people with gold guns, and not 15th prestige, because they did the gold gun glitch before they patched it.

Make sure black ops is running FIRST, go into create a class, then run the hack. presuming you have 50000 you can now buy your gold gun, and leave create a class, your rank will go back to whatever it was before, but you will keep your gold gun.
