I might be getting fired.

tl;dr version: Basically shit went down at work, a guy was an arse, asked if he was being a twat so I said yeah and I might be getting fired for it.

 

Person A: The person who filed the complaint
Person B: The person who was also present

The whole occurrence started shortly after a member of senior management had left the office.

Person A called me over to his desk to ask me something about customer service which was on a piece of paper that he had in his hand. He then asked me if I was listening to music but he asked me in a manner that seemed very abrupt. I replied to him and told him that I was, to which he responded with “well I’m not allowing it anymore” – after two years I’m no longer allowed. I then began to explain to him that it helps me concentrate as I can block out talking and such from other colleagues when it becomes too much. He said that in all his years he had never heard of anything like that. I told him that it’s a concept he wouldn’t be able to understand if it doesn’t help him personally and I told him that it was a common method in my school to help pupils concentrate, obviously after the tutor had finished explaining everything. This was not always the case but when it was allowed it worked, for me personally. I then proceeded to tell him that there are reports into the study of music and how it can have a positive effect on a person’s work rate as it helps to stimulate the brain. Person A asked me to research and send him links to them, which was a fair response.

Shortly after, Person B changed the subject by saying that she cried in the toilets earlier. She was asked why and she replied “I don’t know” and then Person A asked “Is it because I am being a “twat?” I said that I thought he was being a big one and that he spoke to me in an abrupt way and was out of order. He asked me if I would put it in an e-mail to him and I said yes and I will write the reasons why I think that, although I never did.

Afterwards everything went quiet and nobody said anything, it was rather tense but not hostile. Further into the day, Pete was set to go to the village but realised that he still had his pencil in his hand, he threw it from the doorway across the room and onto his desk which hit the computer tower; Person A simply smiled and laughed as Pete walked out. This made me extremely infuriated inside but I never spoke, or acted upon my feelings. I simply let them be.

So yeah, I might be getting fired or getting a disciplinary for it...I do not think so.

There really isn't much you can do about it at this point. Only time will tell.

I've applied for another job which I will more than likely be accepted for, as I have all the qualifications and skills they are looking for, plus the experience that they need.
