New Job: Bartending

This chick is gonna call me up soon asking if I want a job at the Sergeants Mess bartending. My dad works at the RAAF base and knows the bartenders and he put in a good word for me. Seems legit. 8 hours a night at 20 bucks an hour. I know a lot of people there already so it should be fun. Right now they're tossing up between me and some other dude.

Anyone else worked at a bar before? Anyone ever had a job that paid well?

I want to work as a bartender during university, because
a) I love talking to people, especially strangers
b) I love alcohol (not just drinking, I love mixing drinks for other people. Only form of 'cooking' I'm good at)
c) The pay is fucking sick for the work, especially if there are tips.

Its the Sergeants Mess Bar and it's pay at $20 per hour. Not sure if there's time and a half on weekends. It isn't like a normal bar in the city.
