Jailbreak it. You can always go back to the original firmware and Apple can't do shit against you ever since they lost that lawsuit they pushed against one of the Jailbreaking teams.

This is coming from an experienced Apple User. That's right bitch, I have tweaked many Apple products (except my Mac- I love her too much) and I know the deal. To be honest, it depends on why did you get the iPhone, and the risk you are willing to take. See what people don't tell you about Jailbreak is that your iDevice can be stuck in a firmware forever because of Apple's constant anti-piracy updates. For example, I had an iTouch 4G (I still do) which I jail broke when it was in the 4.3.1 firmware. Now, when the iOS 5 was released, I updated and jail broke again. Cool right? Newp. After the iOS advanced into 5.1.0 and then 5.2.0 my iTouch was stuck. How? The jail break had tweaked the iPod in a way that iTunes wouldn't be able to update the firmware. Restore? After Apple stops supporting a firmware, you cannot downgrade yours to such. All you have left to do is to update, but then again, most jailbroken devices will give you a message error from iTunes. It's up to you to take the risk.
God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy.

To jailbreak, or not to jailbreak, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to do it
The times and costs of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a law of piracy,
And by opposing end them: to die, to sleep
No more; and by a sleep, to say we end.

you have a risk of breaking you iphone and it slows it down.
