Definitely get the 2GB version so you can unlock it to the 6970. You will literally get 6970-ish, if not even better at times, performance.

You have tons of OSes, some that can even run live sessions (for complete noobs I recommend a Ubuntu-based distro like Xubuntu)

    USB drives

Go for it, as I already said - every pound you can spare, spare. Budget PSUs are, contrary to popular belief, not that bad and as long as they do the job, well worth the money.

1 bitcoin for a slightly illegal key (via MS' replacements office or w/e) or for a MSDN key that will last you till 2013
Im gonna keep my monitor which runs at 1440x900...
right, i guess its 2gb then...
Dafuq is a live session? again, how would i run Xubuntu if i have no OS? [noobish question D;]
How would i reformat via USB drives?
    Whats a bitcoin? o.o sarcasm? wut? :s

Ubuntu (and it's derivatives, such as Kubuntu, Xubuntu etc.) can be copied and run from a USB drive in a so-called live session. What this means is that you can use the OS temporarily without having to install it to your HDD. From this very live sessions you can then format, partition and play around with your HDD. Bitcoins are a virtual currency, just google them.

Right.. So i'm guessing you get the bios[?] to boot the USB? then load up Xubuntu.. right? ~ i'm a ch00b as BIOS shit and i cbf to google - too mind boggling

    About the bitcoins, went on google and its pretty confusing? So its like a stock market where you exchange it for cash and the rates change and wtf is bitcoin 'mining'? they say you can trust people and shit too. idk, TOO CONFUSING D;

Just boot from your USB drive, the motherboard usually has a boot menu hotkey (it will be either written on screen when the PC starts up or somewhere in the mobo manual).

Right ok, so i've got a defined list of parts i wanna buy, but i don't want to waste money e.g spend like an extra £10 just for 2 extra headphone jacks [exaggeration]

So, i want [anyone find the cheapest of these parts or a good + cheap part if i generalize]
    990x mobo
    Antec 300 case
    2GB 6950
    600/700w PSU
    4GB 1333mhz RAM
    Phenom II X4 [955 i believe]
500gb internal hard drive [dont mind which you pick, as long as it functions well but is cheap.]

I know i can do this my self but you know, being the ch00b i am, ill end up with more questions :/
    Cheeerrs.
P.s, i will thank all the people that contributed at a later time

No point in getting the 2gb version of 6950 if have that low resolution of a monitor. Get the 1gb version to save money, or even get a 6870 which will be just fine.

Yeah, i looked at Alen's post earlier and he said that 2gb can be unlocked/overclocked or shiz.

Anyone got good sites better than scan.co.uk?

Also, alen, is the bitfenix shinobi cheaper than the antec 300?

You could try the following, none of them have both the Bitfenix Shinobi and Antec 300 in stock though, just one of them
Aria PC - Computer Hardware, Components, Monitors.. at lowest prices
PC Components, Desktop PCs, Laptops, LCD TVs & Computer Hardware
Cheap Laptops, Computers and Cheap LCD TVs | Ebuyer.com

The Antec 300 would be €20-€25 more expensive over here, €5-€10 more expensive if you would get the Bitfenix Shinobi Window rather than the 'regular' Bitfenix Shinobi.

fuck windowed. My space for the PC is on the floor and you can't even see the sides because of the way my desk is designed

    Cheers.
p.s im just looking for sites which are cheaper than scan.co.uk, not just looking for cheap cases...

Looked at the links, i've seen aria before, if you looked and the posts before, and novatech - i think they're expensive though, and so is ebuyer.
Expensive meaning compared to aria + scan...

I usually buy from Germany or Austria, but the few UK-based places I've bought from in the past are, in no particular order, Cityscape, Cleverboxes, Ginger6 and CCL. Dunno if it helps you though
