My headset is shown as a speaker.
Hi
I got a new headset and when I pluged them in it didn't install any drivers (I dunno if it needs any drivers) but usually it does. But it didn't and it worked perfectly, the only thing that annoys me about them is that it doesn't have any bass, so I asked my little brother to test his headset (he has got the same headset) and it got bass and I looked up on my computer and sound devices and I couldn't find on the list that I had any headset pluged in, only the speakers. I looked everywere on the internet and didn't find any answers.
my computer is a ASUS K52JV
my OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
My headset is KOSS SB/45

How come it got bass when I plug them in on my school computer and my brother has bass but not when I plug them in to my own computer?

What soundcard do you have?
By "shit jack" FangedBeast means your microphone jack might be on the fritz (but it's not if your brother can hear everything fine).
It sounds like a settings issue to be honest. I had the same headphones and had a few problems, but after I updated my soundcard's drivers and fiddled with the settings in the volume control options I was able to fix it.
Try plugging the headset into the headphone jack and see if it comes up as headphones instead of speakers. Then switch it out to the microphone jack. It's also possible that your laptop can't detect Dynamic headsets (where it pushes both sound to your headphones and your voice through the microphone on the same wire).
