AlterIWnet Question??

Hey bros I know that this is a MW2 question but no one posts stuff in the mw2 section so I thought I would post here, anyways since AlterIW (the site) is down for good can you still open the game and play on the servers, because after I heard that they were getting shut down I just thought their server wouldn't work aka just the matchmaking. As of now I can't open the game at all is that suppose to happen or can people still play on the servers that are hosted by other people like in the server browser??????

I was able to play the game a couple days ago just today when I saw the thread of the site going down is when I was unable to open game itself
