Safe Mode is a mode you run to fix errors that may have occurred on your computer. On the boot screen, spam F8 and you'll be taken to another screen. It'll give you different options. One is safe mode. There are different kinds of safe modes. You need to do 'safe mode with networking' - and then uninstall CF and reinstall.

*sigh* How do you people get these problems? Theres a file called Xtrapva.dat in crossfire/rez/bgm
I'm guessing somethings wrong with that so in a couple minutes ill upload the original for you.
