Would my 32-bit PC be able to handle an installation of 64-bit?
PS. I have to admit my PC kind of sucks.
You won't benefit from it, you only have 2gb of ram. 64 bit only benefits you when you need to use over 4gb of ram since the limit for 32 bit machines is 4gb.

This sums it up pretty well. Practically every desktop Intel CPU past the C2D series supports 64 bit operation and, provided your hardware isn't too bad, you're bound to benefit from switching to it. However as Xipher already pointed out, your system isn't all that great and most likely your greatest improvement in performance won't come from switching to a 64 bit OS, but rather upgrading your hardware. You definitely need more RAM, I don't see how one can survive with 4GB or less ram nowadays (I can barely keep my browsers & OS with must-have programs at the 4GB mark). Furthermore the CPU isn't all that great either - Fraps is very demanding in this aspect. If you're looking to record, I really recommend you take a look at PlayClaw, it works great on multi core CPUs (not sure how well it will work on an i3, but I've seen people get virtually no performance reduction on mid-range i5s).
